Tax Card Application – New Procedure in 2011

Germany has changed the procedure regarding the tax card as of January 1st, 2011.

The tax card as such has been abolished and employees who start working in Germany for the first time this year will be issued an interim form for the tax deduction, a so-called “Bescheinigung für den Lohnsteuerabzug 2011”. This form replaces the former tax card and has to be applied for at the local tax authority.

Those employees who received a tax card in 2010 can keep it for the year 2011. They do not have to apply for the new form. From 2012 the tax deduction will be carried out electronically.

The new procedure has also caused changes in our service structure and the application for the form replacing the tax card will now take a little more time than in the past.

You are most welcome to contact us for further details regarding the overall procedure and the implications in your area.
